Editor's Notes: Remember the BAPE STA? Of course, you do. More than just a sneaker, the somewhat controversial silhouette is a cultural icon – a moment; encapsulating the nostalgia of an era passed.

Coveted by celebrities and fans the world over, the BAPE STA has received the CDG treatment, a Gunna remix, and who could forget when it was the center of the universe thanks to Soulja Boy's "Crank That?"

Nigo's Nike Air Force 1 bait-and-switch is one of the most recognizable pieces of footwear in the world thanks to its playful reinterpretation of the Swoosh, its easy-wearing silhouette, and its unforgettably whacky colorways. Although never truly fading from existence, BAPE STA's endured an extended period out of the limelight, rectified by an intense focus on updated looks throughout 2021.

We've seen the return of patent leather looks, we enjoyed Stadium Goods' debut collaboration, but now it's time for something new. Now, for the first time, the BAPE STA has grown up, gaining some height to become the BAPE STA MI.

You'd be forgiven for thinking you're looking at Air Force 1 Mid customs, but no, this is our favorite A Bathing Ape sneaker all grown up. Arriving as an extension of the STA family tree, the new mid-top silhouette pairs leather and caviar leather materials in bold block colors, creating an easy statement piece for the fall.

We think it's safe to expect a whole lot more fabrications and colorways to follow in the coming months, so buckle up.
