Editor’s Notes: Just last month, Aimé Leon Dore helped New Balance reintroduce an old school basketball sneaker in the 550. The collaboration was highly coveted, but those still looking to get their hands on the silhouette will have another chance, as New Balance is dropping new general release colorways very soon.

Slated to arrive on December 1, the New Balance 550 is offered in white and blue as well as white and red colorways, not all that dissimilar to the Aimé Leon Dore iterations.

It's been a long time coming for the return of the silhouette, as the 550 originally released in 1989. Due to the overall sparsity and retro appeal, expect the shoe to be in high demand when it arrives next week. We also foresee more general release colorways in the future, but that has yet to be announced.
