Highsnobiety

Remember live music, moshpits, standing in a crowd of maskless strangers, and yelling our favorite songs word-for-word? No, us neither, but after a year that brought the music industry to a sudden pause, it feels like an end to the pandemic could finally be in sight. As the vaccination rollout continues, large-scale festivals are hoping to make a triumphant return in 2021, and we're already banking on our first post-pandemic turn-up at Highsnobiety's Parklife stage.

The festival at Manchester's Heaton Park is making its anticipated return after being canceled last year. To kick off post-pandemic festival season with a bang, Parklife has pulled together a star-studded lineup of artists including Megan Thee Stallion, Dave, Skepta, Young Thug, Burna Boy, AJ Tracey, Slowthai – and that's just a fraction of the mouth-watering list. Moving from its usual mid-June weekend to a two-day party in September instead, Parklife is hopeful that it will deliver the live experience we've waited over a year for.

While Highsnobiety Soundsystem has enjoyed the purely digital format since quarantine hit, we're very ready to return to live events with our very own Parklife stage. We're bringing the heat with a selection of our favorite live acts and co-signs: KAYTRANADA, Nines, Celeste, Princess Nokia, Rejjie Snow, Channel Tres, Ivorian Doll, Spyro, Cole LC, and Black Josh.

We're not the only ones excited for this lineup. For the first time ever, Parklife had to close ticket registrations as over 250,000 people have already signed up for pre-sale over the past few weeks, and when sales commenced earlier today (March 24), tickets quickly sold out. But don't worry, more tickets may be released subject-to-demand on March 25 at 10 a.m. GMT on the Parklife website.

From offering us escapism to creating art out of lockdown, Covid-19 has fundamentally changed the way we interact with musicians. We might have danced with them on Tiktok, watched their Verzuz battles, or tuned in to virtual concerts, but nothing can match the energy of experiencing a live performance. For many of us, the return of Parklife means we'll get to relive the good times — like absolutely raging to Dave and AJ Tracey's "Thiago Silva," getting stuck in a Skepta "Shutdown"-induced moshpit, or chanting the intro to Burna Boy's "Ye."

But what about all the new music we haven't even gotten to experience live? Imagine a crowd full of people doing Megan Thee Stallion's "Savage" dance, or jamming to "My Family" by Pa Salieu.

Whether you're feverishly waiting for Parklife like we are or just eager for outside to open again, we've curated a selection of tracks to get you excited about going out again. Listen to our Parklife 21 playlist below, and stay tuned to Parklife for more ticket info as it comes. Parklife 2021 will be held on September 11 and September 12, 2021.
