..Men are my playthings...

haha... bet you thought I was going to say something crazy NOT!!! this is a slogan from the new undies brand Jurriaans out of New Zealand   I figured with the holidays and all you might want to invest in some new  fun knickers...

Here is a little snippet of what the brand is about :

"Jurriaans is a design led collection of underwear. Every 6 months there will be new innovative and exciting designs and colours."

Basically they are not replicated to thousands..hmm exclusive  panties...

"The print designs were created and girls were asked for their opinion it soon became apparent that there were two distinct types of design and personality. Girls either liked bright colours and ‘pretty’ designs or something a bit more sexy and fun. The appeal of these designs depends on the girl’s personality or what type of mood they are in. "

Yes they even appeal  to the duality of our femininity.... Smart!!!

check out the video For a look at their  knickers in action..

YSL tribute PLatform

The YSL tribute Platform.I have to say that I  tend to favor more avant -garde designers when it comes to high end fashion ,Helmut lang(when the man was around),Rick owens ,Comme des Garcons are some of my many favorites..

However the Big houses Sometimes  come out with apparel or accessories that truly embody what fashion should be about True design... This particular one is a readaptation of a classic.Look at  the shape of this shoe don't you just want to look at it  Take one of the cheaper imitations and you will see the difference  the lines are different ..yeah I'm a design geek I can really get into it ..I just had to share this with you..

Enjoy!!

YOUNITY: Female Design Showcase this Friday, November 16!!!

I am so late on putting this up that it's criminal, especially given how hot this event is going to be so let me just start this post with the essential details:

EVENT: The Crossover: A Fusion of Female Stylez, Ideaz and Skillz

LOCATION: The Showroom NYC: 121 2nd Ave. (at 7th St. in the East Village)

TIME TO BE THERE: 6-9 PM

^^A glimpse of some of the art that will be featured at the show.

The event is being organized by YOUNITY, which is an international colletive of female visual artists, designers, photographers and craftswomen, who decided to that instead of waiting around for someone to toss them the occassional token female bone, took matters into their own hands by banding together and creating their own powerful network. The group was founded by artist Alice Mizrahi and BELOVED-by-ChicksWithKicks artist TooFly.

I love the idea of this group because it really speaks to Samia's post a couple of days ago, which I couldn't agree with more. Plus, you know that Alice and TooFly are doing more than just reaching out to women, they're also making it part of their mission to involve inner city kids in the organization of this yearly event. See, now that just melts my damn heart cuz they not only left the ladder in place, they stopped, turned around, and extended a guiding hand to those who haven't figured out how to climb it yet.

Alex and Chloe

I have to say that more and more It has become a real chore to find acceptable accessories especially jewelry alot of what  is out there is very generic unless of course you go for the somewhat high-end/avant garde designers ..

When I came across Alex and Chloe  I definitely saw a few  pieces that stood out

MaMa Fall 07 "Operation:Saigon Sunset"

Peace and love is in the Air ... Or is the need for  this generation  to take a stand for something... the New Collection MaMa is presenting us is definitely different from what we have seen fom them recently This is what Gabriella had to say:

"2007. Our young men and women are sent far away to fight a war that we should not have started. Looking at our current political climate, I could not help but think of the late 1960's - early 1970's Vietnam War Era. I was inspired by the activism of the many social movements, as well as the messages of peace and love. At the time, the younger generation found its voice and made it heard. I'm a little uneasy because today we don't see the same energy and zeal being put toward important causes. This is my interpretation of the Vietnam War Era and I hope it inspires you as much as I was inspired in making it. Peace."

Can you say Limited??

For along Time we were bashed with the term special edition, you thought you were one of 20 to own these kicks or that  T-shirt  but in all honesty you're one of a couple of hundreds of thousands..

The Luxury world tough has been able to really keep its promise check out this concept:    20Ltd

Basically they choose you (the brand/designer) you do not choose them and  the items produced they are the only ones to sell.. no price battles the items t range from jewelry, watches to motorcycles and furniture, look at what Derek Lam came up with...

Now that's what I call exclusive..

Enjoy

Claw X Nike Launch NYC and my 2cents

The excitement of a woman getting her own  sneaker to me was amazing and to see that the Woman herself "Claw" is soooo cool ..and humble...who comes in to their own  party saying hello to everyone in the room?  I mean literally all eyes were on her and she happily says hello everyone...

Goes to show that good things do happen to Good people somehow  tough I think women in the "industry" fashion/media/streetwear (those have been my fields for a while )seem to believe that being cold or distant to each other is the way to go to get ahead... while our male counterparts (and I see this over and over..) take every opportunity  to schmooze and beam contacts over drinks and loud music have you noticed that? and then I guess we  get surprised of the new magazines, the new clothing lines, the press that comes from these testosterone prone alliances..( I know ..i'm getting preachy..)

AND I have to qualify this by saying that in no way am I bashing men(I love men) and their genius ability to network...But I'm attempting to to shed light on one of the things that I think hinders  women  from making their mark  in in Streetwear /fashion ect..

Stop being so afraid that what you have fought for will be taken from you( I know it's tough out there) ..STOP HATING!!!watch your back always BUT mostly  be a good judge of character ...Not all women are shady..Embrace the sisterhood of fashionistas and creatives !! There's power and opportunity out there!!!

ok let's get back to Claw..(I had to just let it out)

the Iheart store was completely done up in Claw papparel accesories as well as her famous tag I had to cop a tee there were just too hot..

A glimpse of the  apparel line

this is pretty much the main display for the kicks how hot !! i'm torn in color choices tough...

 A sample of claw's work

A few of her jackets check out the one she was sporting!!

I also went to Rolland Berry's shinding with Rbk and Alife i'll have them up shortly

Palm D'Or Champagne + Alife

Last week M.O.B. designer Leah sent out an invite, asking recipients" "Wanna party in a mansion and drink champagne?" Sounds good, right? And for once the event actually lived up to the hype (and yeah, Samia, it made up for being locked out of the RBK event!). The bubbly was extremely free-flowing, the hors d'oeuvres were yummy and the crowd was fun to look at, e.g., not completely dominated by a bunch of young males who spend the whole night looking to see who's admiring their limited edition Nikes.

^^Streetwear gets grown'd up!

^^The staff serving up the drinks was awesome

One of the first people I spotted was Sarah McSweeney, who I interviewed last week for this blog. I had a bone to pick with Sweet Sixteen 'cause I discovered AFTER I posted up the interview that she had sent me the exact same set of images that she set to another blog that interviewed her prior to this one! Natch, I insisted that I get some of my own ORIGINAL images of her. Goofball that she is, she insisted on the pitt shot and to make up for sending me duplicates, she gave me a booby highlight:

And of course I had to check in with M.O.B. designer and the reining queen of the women's streetwear scene, Leah McSweeney. I got some bits and pieces of some stuff Leah has planned and all I can say is keep you eyes peeled for some eye-popping stuff is that is soon to launch. Leah's been busy dealing with mommy-hood, but fronting bitches be warned, your break is about to be over! Me and Leah also got to chatting about her recent profile in The Observer. Overall, it's a good read and highly complimentary, but all I have to say about one of the quotes in it besides the obvious "with friends like that!"..... is that it's not generally advantageous to be the person who often has someone else's name in your mouth. Good or bad, you wanna be the one people are talking ABOUT, not the opposite.

^^Sweet 16 (lo, nice face, Sarah!), Leah and photographer Lynette Astair, whose done a bunch of M.O.B's photo shoots and a whole bunch of other equally beautiful work. Definitely go check out Lynette's web site 'cause her work is amazing. She's got that magic touch for certain.

^^Leah chatting with Jauretsi, who did some spinning at the party. In addition to her talents on the 1s and 2s, Jauretsi is most recently best known for East of Havana, a documentary she directed last year.

^^Can you see Jauretsi's Claw necklace? It's the one behind the cross.

^^Leah and me.  I know, haters, you're SHOCKED that I'm not down by her feet licking her boots!

^^Alife's Rob, the original baby Daddy, who's got that awesome, sexy New York accent workin' for him.  Loyal like that, Rob bigged up his woman's talents big time. And who does he think the baby is more like? Rob thinks she's got a lot of both of them in her.

^^Nitrolicious blogger doing her own documenting. Where she makes her living in a big mystery that she's adament she won't reveal, but me and Samia were guessing that as much as she posts about H&M, it has to have SOMETHING to do with them. I mean, it's a decent chain, but it aint THAT good.

Love you all, 4-Evah!
