The Tie Bar

Michael Macko, Details Fashion Director, has some thoughts on the Tie Bar. As many fashion insiders have noted, rumors of the necktie's demise have been greatly exaggerated. "Ties are absolutely not dead to the fashionable younger guy, who doesn't have to wear one," says tie designer Alexander Olch. Men in their twenties and thirties don't need to wear a knot with wing tips and a suit for meetings—they choose to put one on, more likely with jeans and a cardigan.

One key component to this casual necktie look is the tie bar. Before its 21st-century renaissance, the accessory-to-the-accessory found fans among the likes of Fred Astaire and Frank Sinatra. And while this add-on is hardly new to the modern stylish guy, cool designers like Thom Browne and Dolce & Gabbana are now retrofitting it to go with the super-skinny ties that were still all over the fall runways (another death prematurely reported). AMC's, critically acclaimed television show, Made Men, no doubt has had some affect on this as well. For more 'analysis' on the the tie bar click here.

Short Summer

As the summer is coming to an end (I know, very sad, but true), I wanted to take one last look at some summer shorts. A more tailored short has become in vogue this summer and we have two great examples pictured above. What's great about these shorts are the cut and the ability to roll them up to get the desired length you like. Because shorter shorts are also very much in trend this year, so its great to have the versitility, as not everyone can wear their shorts at the same length. Pictured above left is the Wood Wood Sjakal in White (was $150), now $68. Pictured above right is the John Patrick Organic Cotton Drill Short in Navy (was $132), now $66. Both available at NewDandyism.

Call of the Wild Shapes and Triangles Tees

Clothing label Call of the Wild is the work of London-based graphic design duo Kai and Sunny. They are known for their unique application of design and art culminating in original apparel. Call of the Wild’s original concept was inspired by John Wyndham’s novel, Day of the Triffids, written in the 1950’s. It was the idea of nature fighting back. As Kai puts it,"most of our work has a connection with nature and shapes and limited colour palettes." The Shapes in Grey Marl, now $27, and the Triangles in White, now $18, (both pictured above) are available at NewDandyism.

NewDandyism's entire stock of Call of the Wild is on sale from 55-80%! And everything else in the store is discounted at least 50%. This is only going on for a limited time, so take advantage of it while you can.

Designer, Swaim Hutson, of Obedient Sons, presented his Autumn collection during NY fashion week and proved why he was named one of the top menswear designers in America by GQ and the CFDA. The collection for men, and now women showed us what he has in store for us next season. The show featured a blend traditional menswear fabrics and silhouettes with hunting elements such as riding jackets, hunting trousers with patched knees, but always with a twist.
