Too Much Funclub aftermath

Here some picts from a few weeks ago, closing party of the Design Week; Too Much Funclub at skatepark Area51. We were part of this event together with T-Shu, Little League, Blend magazine and Area..we expected about 300 to 400 people, but more then 750 people showed up and we had to close the doors at a certain point...sorry for those who couldn't get in anymore..

A madhouse it was, with bands playing in the bowl, a biki-bingo game, hiphop karaoke, live performances, dj's and a good crowd and Too Much Booze for most of the peeps.

First of all: excusez moi for the bad picts, but I couldn't really control my camera that evening;) Here we go:

We played some of our projections, you can run but you can't hide, boyyyy:

This is the Ontour animation team of the evening:

Eindhovens Y's Kid hosting and presenting the HipHop Karaoke and 'raadJePlaatje':

La Melodia live on stage 'Vibing High'!

Shit gone loose afterwards..

Mr. Ben-G and 100% Vooraan behind the decks...this is how we do it in Eindjegramma!!

At a certain point the plug was pulled out and party was finished but we didn't have enough yet and the lovely Lucy invited us to her place for a surreal afterparty: dressed up people cooking and Sebas tapdancing...

That was Too Much Fun that evening...we'll be back in the new year with Too Much FunClub Part2!!

Busy week

Last weekend we closed off the Design Week over here with the Too Much Fun Club party at skatepark Area51. And a big party it was...sold out and the crowd and myself got loose! My own picts are awful but I'll drop some later on.

First as promised some images from a couple of expos and evenings I enjoyed last week! First of all the new project 'Melt and Destroy' from my girlfriend Hilde she showed at MU gallery. It's part of the NAT expo (see previous post) and all artists were asked to create a new piece that changes over time. From the MU website: "MU has challenged ten of these designers, all of them with a proven track record in successfully integrating living nature into their work, to develop a new work for NAT. They are free to make use of grass or bacteria, wind or earth, flowers or animals, food or water. And as these are living elements, there’s a good chance that a number of works will develop in a natural way during the three-week exhibition in MU. They grow, proliferate, or rot before your very eyes. To facilitate these processes as organically as possible, we have made sure that there is plenty of moisture, heat, and light. This means that the exhibition space will contrary to the normal state of affairs, feel like a ‘wet area’."

So, Hilde was triggered by the transformation of a clinical white landscape into a bright coloured image and frooze coloured liquids and hang these above a large salt bath. Every day she places a new row of coloured balls that melt and slowly the white landscape destroys and changes into an image. So this installation acts as an enlarged inktjet printer...long story but check the picts:

Then The Little League / HeyHeyHey hosted three expos in one week in their shop at the Vestdijk, for this event called Hellshop instead of Shellshop. Good atmosphere over there, like the second expo by Erosie and Phet. It was a cold night and Wildstyle was shown in a temporary outside cinema:

Nice work by two of Eindhovens heroes, who have been around for a while!

Check their work online: http://www.erosie.net and www.phetworld.com

Some screens by Eros (one of these will be featured in the new Sixpack collection):

New work by Phet:

Later that night we went to Area51 to see Biz Markie. At the entrance some new Cosmic Crack gif animations..

Nobody beats the biz!!

The next day we had diner in La Bolleur; this is an old whorehouse that's been amazingly transformed into a restaurant/bar. The interior is great; you have the feeling you're inside an 80's pornhouse, but the food and music is perfect. Now it's closed down...luckily we could get a reservation in the last week!

That evening Bob Copray and Eric de Haas launched their new furniture label called 'Person-A'. Instead of a standard presentation they organised a very graphic performance that showed their new chair:

Hellshop part 3: Timemachine with the Magnificent Zelda and Cosmic Crack. Busy and mad night with some DIY tools and dope tshirts, check em:

Every day this caravan travelled from opening to opening, interviewing and recording all designers and artists:

Cosmic Crack and Zlda live:

Erik and Elske HeyHeyHey:

Then there was this highlight from the artist Aeneas Wilder at De Fabriek: http://www.defabriek.net/

Who built this wooden structure without any nails, glue or whatever, just stacked on top of eachother. At the last day of the expo he kicked at one side of the structure and the Grand Final was the overwhelming and beautiful destruction of this sculpture:

That's it for now...nice week and I'll drop some end party picts soon.

Bye, R

opening party last weekend..

Okay, let's go one week back in time. Saturday the 21th we opened our store. In the meantime we're already up and running 6 days and its great. At the same time it's Dutch Design Week here in Eindhoven, so had to be at a 'opening' every night...loads of good stuff happening here and I'll drop some picts about the best expo's I've seen. But first back in the timemachine to see what was poppin' on the Tramstraat:

Juse (I Have Pop) brought some nice blown up picts from his concrete projects that fitted our shelves perfectly:

The Cuckoo dressing room made by our man Wessel:

I Have Pop inside:

Alakazam in the house! Great graphics and excellent quality from Will Sweeneys and Susumu Mukai's label. Matt Furie and James Jarvis also did some dope designs, check em:

Other side of the shopping space where we had to be efficient with our limited square meters and made this counter / presentation furniture piece:

We've got this old Kaws figure on display that was shot through the stomach during the Betamaxxx expo in MU a few years ago (the bullets are still laying in his feet)!

The dressing room welcomes you:

People started showing up...

Mrs. Mimi also had a look around:

It got kinda packed on the inside, but the vibe was good..

On the street itself:

Rotterdam Gorilli Clique:

Eyeballs eyeballs..

I Have Pop outside:

At a certain point we had to close our doors, because we booked a place to continue the party. But is was dark already as you can see..

Danny Man on the Moon fixed some bikes but Big C is not sure:

We went to Plan2, a restaurant / bar who just changed location, and the place looked stylish. It's in the middle of an old industrial area outside the city and the contrast with this place is nice. We booked a table and enjoyed the food:

Wessel and Louis were playing some tunes:

My good friend Bas turned 30 that day and at 00.00 o clock it was my turn...I became 30 years old damn!

After diner the party started..

L'Amsterdam Connectionne:

Mrs. Magda (www.magda-eindhoven.nl) enjoying herself:

E-Line and Woody:

Cosmic Crack and the 30-year-old:

Hi hi ha ha:

Jerney promoting her own scarves (buy these in our shop!)

It all went downhill from here...check some of Big C's skillz here: http://www.tacky.nl/snowboard/videos/vis_video.asp?id=65155

And this is how you feel like when you're 30 years and 5 hours old and still hanging in there:

And this was a few hours later...waking up in 5 kg confetti...thanks!

Sundays I felt terrible but it was the start of the Design Week so we 'had to' check some shows with a hangover..

This was in MU gallery; an expo called 'Nat' (meaning Wet). From the MU website: "A project that is a cross between an exotic Garden of Eden and an illegal growshop, a home hothouse, and a biotech laboratory. NAT, designing nature is about the interface where nature and culture, biology and design intertwine.

Really dope expo and my girlfriend Hilde also shows a new project here. Picts from this later. First a nice installation from our friends Danira and Christoph, who made huge blenders for red beets and carrots. The visitors had to blend the beets and the juice coming from this create the graphic and the poster with a 'flockprint' technique. Each day a new poster is made that you can buy. Amazing project, check it out:

The carrot version:

I'll drop more images from other expos soon! Tommorow we will be giving the end part for The Other Things festival together with Blend magazine, T-Shu and The Little League..its gonna be good, so now I'm gonna catch some sleep.

Bye.

I Have Pop

In our shop we will also host small expo's showing artists and objects that inspire us.
During Dutch Design Week we will be part of The Other Things festival and have a great start with the 'I Have Pop' expo.

I have Pop is an ongoing investigation into the dynamics and mechanics of popular culture through a series of autonomous (street) art projects and assignments.
In 2004 over the course of 4 months, and in the middle of the craze, the concrete Nike dunks were placed in front of some of the world's most high profile sneaker
boutiques. Without telling anyone about this project some of the shops took this shoe inside and put them on display.
Word of mouth travelled quickly, but nobody knew what the deal was. One year later, the entire story was made public and sparked a huge response.
Although many people believe there is a group of people behind these projects, but that is not the case. It is the work of one single person going by the name of
JUSE. He creates the ideas, the plans, makes the objects and personally travels to all destinations for execution and documentation.
So far he has exhibited at Evil Monito LA, 90SQM Amsterdam, Sneakerpimps USA and Untitled Berlin / Barcelona amongst others and now we have the honour
to welcome him and show a selection of his work in Eindhoven.
Check his site for inspiring projects and commisioned projects for Nike, Wesc and Solebox.

Last week we received the latest copy from Clark magazine from France http://www.clarkmagazine.com/

Nice issue again with Razauno on front cover. By the way Sixpack France and The Lazy Dog will open an exhibition of new work of Razauno feat. Grotesk coming friday!

If you're in Paris check it out at the Lazy Dog, great place. Sixpack will be one of the brands we will be selling in our shop and we're expecting some dope designs by Grotesk and Razauno for coming spring...

The nice thing is that we're also having a feature in this issue, check out the female Hide shirt and hoodiescarf:

The same weekend we received the weekly magazine from the Volkskrant, one of the biggest (and best) Dutch newspapers. Our friend Dennis is featured rocking our Labyrinth hoodie! Thanks man!

Freshcotton Garagesale

Last saturday Wouter, Hilde and I went to Amsterdam to meet up with the Freshcotton crew and see what was happening at their garagesale in the Flexbar. As you can see in Holland there will never be a crowd queing up for streetwear unless it is very very CHEAP:

People went crazy on the inside and it felt a bit like the 'Dolle Dwaze Dagen' from a huge retailchain here in Holland:

Tuna from FC La Familia was working her a** off to make sure no one got into catfights about the goods:

The mess after the tornado:

Wow, nice job. Hopefully the goods in our store will cause the same riot in Eindhoven;)
