Last week we went to see the final degree show of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, one of the best fashion academies worlwide, with ie. Martin Margiela, AnnDemeulemeester, Dries van Noten, Dirk van Saene, Veronique Branquinho, BrunoPieters, Bernhard Willhelm, Peter Pilotto as famous former students.
The shows are always spectacular and of a very high level and this year was no exception. Walter van Beirendonck has been involved for already 26 years as a teacher, but this was his debut as head of the Academy. For the first time they also released a magazine to go with the show called 'Show Off' with the end year master collections and also insights into the projects, workshops and bachelor work of the fashion departments...really nice publication!
All students from all the 4 years show their collections, 140 in total...so the show started at 20.00 hours and ended at 01.00 at night! Here some highlights:
Lars Paschke - 3rd year bachelor
Tomohiro Tokita

Karisia Paponi - 3rd year bachelor
Narelle Dore - Knock on wood
Yuima Nakazato - Wooden dimension
Ann Eckers - Networkers (super dope children line)
Tonia Geissbuehler
Yu Fukumoto - The collector
Hung La - The monkeys made me do it
Simon-Pierre Toussaint - The trees can hear you if you talk to them
Glenn Martens - April 29th 1983
Andrea Cammarosano - Seranada Moleculare
The creativity and craftmanship is truly amazing and I always get really excited and energized after such a show...even after 5 hours non stop catwalk watching...well, also the models looked quite okay;)
Watch some of these names!
