Amsterdam and Reebok have always had a special bond. From the clean aesthetics and easy-to-wear nature of the Classic Leather to the novelty and progressive designs of the various Pump models, the brand has always been steadily available and the choice of many. However, in-between those two giants there were more gems to be found not only in the running section, but also in the fitness section. The Workout Low Plus did not just look good in the gyms or fitness rooms, they were also great for daily street wear and skateboarding.

We chose to interpret “exercise” in the broadest sense of the word: Slow versus fast, clumsiness versus nimbleness, tortoise versus hare… The hare… Now the hare would be perfect to serve as our main inspiration to stay with the theme of speed and agility. We played around with various hues of grey as the main color, and made it pop with organic shades of pink and green. Natural earthtones to keep it sober, juxtaposed by a wild hairy upper to make them stand out on your feet.

When we least expect it, the hare darts out of the ditch. And there you have it, the Patta x Reebok Workout Low Plus.

Shoe Gallery has been a staple in the Downtown Miami landscape since 1979. Constantly evolving with the fashion and styles throughout the years. It has been the destination spot for both locals and visitors in search of Street wear, Art And Music in “The Magic City, The Gateway to the Americas” Town…

The Shoe Gallery Workout is inspired by the “The Circle” located in Downtown Miami. In the shadows of the tall modern sky scrapers rests a sacred ceremonial ground at the mouth of the Miami River used by The Tequesta Tribe. This Reebok Workout takes ques from the moccasins used by the Nativr Tequesta and Miccosukke Tribes.

Take two classic icons and their rich heritage, add a pint of creativity, blend it with a modern touch, and you get a refreshing cocktail with a lingering taste of the old world. The designers at Singapore’s Limited Edt, namely Jonning Chng and Alvin Huang, drew inspiration from the vintage 1986 bottle of local brew Tiger Beer to design a Reebok Workout Plus that is infused with a distinct Singapore essence for this 25th anniversary collaboration.

Based on the colourway of Tiger Beer’s vintage 1986 bottle, the signature blue and orange colours are applied to both Reebok and the new Limited Edt logos that can be found on the tongue and the heel of the shoe. The Singapore rendition of Reebok Workout Low Plus sports gold reflective uppers to represent the colour of beer and brown glossy uppers plus translucent brown side flaps to represent the see-through brown beer bottle. The Graduated dot design printed on the brown side upper is likened to bubbles rising to the top while the metallic gold eyestay reminds us of the gold bottle cap. Limited Edt brings you for a walk on the wild side with tiger stripes printed on the insoles, giving a fun modern twist to the classic personality of the shoe.

An admirer of the evergreen silhouette and clean cut nature of the Workout Low Plus, Limited Edt’s retail concept owner Mandeep Chopra remembers selling the shoe as a kid when he used to help out in the family business during his school holidays back in the 1980s. “We are really honoured to be part of this project especially with the long history, rich heritage and classic nature of Reebok Workout Low Plus.”

Celebrating the Reebok Workout Low Plus 25th anniversary, Kasina would like to recreate the real Classics with Workout by keeping Reebok’s heritage alive. ‘Tweed’ is the answer we have found. The name of tweed was taken from the river Tweed in the Scottish Borders textile area. Tweed is a woolen fabric that twists together different colored woolen strands into a two or three-ply yarn. With its long history, tweed is the classical item that never goes out of style.

Tweed was commonly worn for outdoor activities such as shooting and hunting. Today, tweed has come back into fashion with high-end stores and designers, used often with simple changes in detail or color for trendy style. Combining Reebok Workout’s heritage with the long history of tweed, Kasina recreates a classical style of Workout that you have never seen before. We express the heritage of Workout by mix and matching brown tone tweed with leather and vintage style outsole to keep Classics classic.

We wanted to convey that the Workout will be reborn welcoming the 25th year anniversary, so we chose a scene that evokes the birth of new life from an egg – the crack. The ‘Glow in the dark’ image creates an impression of mystical feelings of the birth of a new life. The definition of Workout as a model has changed greatly compared to 25 years ago. At that time, it was developed as a sports shoe (gear) using the latest technology, and there was a user demand for it in sports.

We have taken this concept to give this shoe, the unforgettable great masterpiece of the Reebok history, a new life as a fashion item bringing it to the latest stage with new demands. Just like our users, we at Atmos love sneakers and we are looking forward to seeing the new Workout glowing on a new stage.

Beatnic opened its doors in the year 2001 in Fullerton, CA. We are one of the original shops that represent active lifestyle and street culture in Southern California. When we were offered this opportunity to collaborate with Reebok on the 25th anniversary Workout project, our first thought was to create a shoe that paid tribute to Reebok’s iconic footwear. We picked a few models and began searching for inspiration that would reflect both what Reebok represents as well as what Beatnic represents. Since we are having our 10th anniversary in 2011, we wanted to go back to something that represents how we started while still holding true to the concepts that the project is all about. After much deliberation, we picked the first Reebok Pump Fury colorway as our inspiration. We feel that the Pump Fury is one of the most iconic shoes for Reebok and we chose to take the Pump Fury’s original and most iconic color way and apply it to the Workout to create a fusion between the two shoes.

We thought this concept was very interesting and would appeal to a broad range of people. The Workout is usually produced in solid and quieter color ways. We have not often seen this silhouette done in brighter louder colors. Recently we have been experiencing a trend where shoes tend to be solid and dark. This has been the case for a few years now and we thought it was good time to move back into brighter more vibrant colors.

Originally, we requested to add pump function to Workout but it was not feasible, so instead we requested to add weld dots on the midsole to look like there is air in them. We feel as though these small details really make the shoe stand out, and that they will be appreciated by our consumers, as will the heritage that comes with it. We are extremely pleased to work with Reebok on this collaboration and we hope that consumers appreciate the finished product as much as we do.

Foot Patrol is London’s best-known destination sneaker store, with a history in supplying the most exclusive sneakers. Originally opened in 2002, and relocated to its new store in 2010, it’s been at the heart of supplying the sneaker fraternity with the most desirable footwear and apparel. Providing a hub for the sneaker community to come and chat about what they love most. Specialising in new & classic sneakers, limited editions, Japanese exclusives and rare deadstock.

Based in the heart of Soho on Berwick Street, the store’s understated facade is simply a prelude to what has been achieved architecturally within. A ‘second’ shop, complete with pitched roof, has been constructed to float within the store shell, assembled from an urban palette of recycled scaffold board for the floors, walls and ceiling, teamed with satin black steel for the fixtures. Designed by the famous Wilson Brothers, with inspiration taken form the hidden and tiny boutiques of Japan, the store is as much a one-off as the products within.

Inspiration for our interpretation of the Reebok Workout 25th anniversary shoe comes essentially from London and its almost perpetual state of grey–the generally dull and cloudy weather and concrete surroundings. This harsh environment that we call home enlightened by the occasional blast of warm sunshine. Heavy brushed suede and creamy gum sole fitting our outlook of taking the rough with the smooth. Our personal workout is all about good times! Friends, food, drink & good music is all we need

The Workout Low Plus was launched in 1987 as a sports fitness shoe, but it was built with numerous technical features that provided many benefits which set it apart from the average sports shoe. Notched back tabs allowed the feet to move more freely, heel and toe wraps provided lateral stability and durability, DI-Tex 107 injected into the midsole promoted lightweight and superior cushioning, and the patented H-Strap midfoot design allowed a custom fit. The shoe was also extremely versatile, performing adeptly in the weight room, an exercise class, on track or on a court.

The origin of the purple carrot’s roots can be traced back many thousands of years. Wild carrots only exist in purple or yellow roots and by chance, natural mutations occur to produce orange. Dutch growers took these mutated orange carrots and developed them into a sweeter and more practical domestic variety that we are familiar with today. The purple carrot is very nutritious and offers many benefits that set it apart from the average carrot.

They have been found to contain antioxidants, be antiviral, antiseptic, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory, whilst beta-carotenes and phytochemicals found in purple carrots have been proven to reduce the risk of cancer. Showing their own versatility, purple carrots are also being increasingly used as a natural dye product in place of synthetic chemical colourings.

So both the Workout Low Plus and the purple carrot offer many benefits to the consumer and both play an integral role in relation to two key aspects of physical fitness and well-being: exercise and diet.

Espionage from Sydney, Australia is proud to be part of the Reebok Workout Low Plus 25th anniversary celebration.

For the development of this project, our idea was to try to do something that no one had done before with this classic model. We knew it was a difficult task. We tried to work in the structure of the model in a very basic way, applying color following the lines of the original design, as a trompe l’oeil, creating a different structure, and giving strength to the back of the shoe.

Moreover, we decided to use neoprene in some parts, softening the hardness of leather. The result: a personal reinterpretation of an icon which captures our character.

We are from the South of Italy. Taranto. There’s no rush down here. The time passes slowly and it doesn’t let any temporary fashion phenomenon change the rules or bother too much the timeless style we’ve been always pursuing. Our rules are the classics. It means quality of the product and reliability. It means spending good time in our store with our customers. Inside our store SNEAKERS is the topic. With Reebok we decided to use the best materials available on the market. The upper has been made of pieno fiore leather.

For the strings we chose the organic cotton and for the sole the best natural rubber. The wooden insert represents the core of our store. We thought about an high quality sneaker that has to be worn and not simply looked at. A quality sneaker with a piece of our store set on it. The golden details symbolize the golden medal we give to the Reebok Workout Low Plus. A shoe that has gained the classics sneakers label through the time. And down here we know what time means.

Trying to do too much takes away from the authenticity of what the Workout Low meant to the market when it was at its height. If you didn’t have a few pair of Workouts along with Phase 1s, your wardrobe wasn’t complete.

The gum bottom is what made it — the contrast and the way it all blended together made them a classic from the corner to the club. Maroon suede and gum haven’t made it yet — hopefully this one adds to classics…

“We made it easy as usual. The name of the shoe was our inspiration: The Workout. We started to make a workout competition. The aim: Who is losing more weight until the release of the shoes. The winner will be announced on release day. Hikmet or Sükret is the answer. Until then hard workout and a strict diet. And guess what, the diet brought us often fish on the table.

So we thought, why not a different idea for the material? We used fish leather for our Reebok Workout shoe. A nice brown fish leather which gives the shoe an exclusive and premium look and feel. The first Reebok Workout Low Plus ever made in fish leather! Happy Birthday Workout!”
