Where form meets function

Art Chantry has been an artist in Seattle for over 30 years. During that time he managed to produce a body of work that, no matter how unorthodox, still rivals some of the best graphic designs in the world.
The influence Art’s work had on the early 90’s grunge scene and its exposure through such acts as Nirvana and Soundgarden via the artwork of their album covers fueled the hype of his talent, which quickly spread throughout the US and globally. The look of these pieces influenced a lot of the surf, skate and snow culture companies in Southern California. Oakley has deep roots set in this community and was inspired through this period of time, and it seemed Art would be the natural choice for a collaboration piece.  Art’s work is respected throughout the industry, and his notoriety as an influential artist is in line with Oakley’s outlook on design, staying ahead of the curve by leading rather than following.
Oakley created together with the artist a limited edition “Hijinx”, featuring Art’s artistic treatment. The sunglasses come in a special pouch and box, also designed by the artist and will be released 1rst of June!
