DNR is reporting the inevitable. American Apparel, that multi-million dollar basics line now found throughout all of the major metros, is banging on the big bad Great Wall and making their way into the ever expansive China fashion market.

What makes this story interesting is now how American Apparel plans to cover up the models in their ads to abide by China’s rules on skin, but rather how American Apparel plans to continue manufacturing their goods inside the USA. Its a reversal of roles in some respects. China is well known as the place to produce wears at steep discounts as compared to North America. How will the China market respond to American Apparel? We can only assume prices will be slashed if they plan on slamming Chinese perceptions that American goods are more expensive… which they usually are.
