Estelle has come along way since “1980,” was released. Remembering youth, Estelle proved an able flow but only limited charisma. Despite strong mixtape slots and dub plate specials, official recordings failed to give an inkling that she  might one day rise to the top ranks of British Female MCs. No question, the hand of Kanye West and his right hand man John Legend (who actually signed her) have been instrumental in increasing Estelle’s profile and making her sound more universal.

“Come Over”, with John Legend is a great example. Not as catchy as “American Boy,” the track does allow Estelle room to showcase her vocal range and give off a little Caribbean Charm. To paraphrase another London spitter, she ain’t done to bad.

Look out for Estelle performing live at halftime of the MLS All-Star Game. It may well be the highlight of the match.
