Running through May 9, 2010, at the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland, iona rozeal brown: all falls down.

Based in Washington, DC, Brown is a graduate of Yale University’s MFA Program. Her painting melds hip-hop aesthetics with Japanese art history. In her new series, on view in the exhibition, Brown explores narratives relaying the complex pressures facing young women today. For the series, Brown was awarded the Joyce Award in Visual Arts, which supports commissions for artists of color.

Brown has released a special edition print for MOCA Cleveland, King Kata #3: Peel Out (after Yoshitoshi’s “Incomparable Warriors: Women Han Goku”).
