The Great Outdoors operates with a nice premise and with an often under explored theme of the movement of street art indoors. Opening on May 8 at Woodward Gallery (133 Eldridge St, New York, NY), the exhibition recognizes the influence of the outdoors on many urban bred artists. Royce Bannon, Darkcloud, Michael De Feo, El Celso, LA II, Kenji Nakayama, Neckface, Lady Pink, Matt Siren, Stikman, and Swoon have been charged with responding to their environments… a frequent theme in all their work, but here done as an attempt to reflect further on what happens to outdoor installations when their creators move to more institutional spaces.

The Great Outdoors runs through July 24, 2010. A preview follows.
