I am always drawn to exhibitions of new work inspired by discrete collections. In this case, for ReCollection, master’s students from Slade respond to 22 Porsea Place. The former home of Alexander Kardo Sessoeff, the Georgian House contains the wealth of a passioned life of collecting. There are some 3,000 works of art, representing Sessoeff’s eclectic interests and tastes.

The breadth of the collection provides a varied springboard of inspiration for contemporary artists. Among those in the exhibition is video artist Jamie Lau.

The exhibition opens on May 25, 2010. Like all exhibition at Porsea Place, viewing is arranged through private tour.
