On view at ThinkSpace Gallery through July 2, 2010, The Waiting Room San Francisco-based Brett Amory’s debut Los Angeles solo show.

The series, which Amory began in 2001, depicts anonymous urban street scenes, the figures frozen in time. Initially, Amory set about painting commuters, but as time progressed so to did the people that inhabit his work. There are elements of despair. There are also moments of hope. It’s all about, as you’d imagine, waiting. And, the intent succeeds.

Amory was born in Portsmouth, VA, in 1975. He graduated from Academy of Arts University in 2005.
