On July 17, 2010, the Great North Museum opens In the Long Run: 30 Years of the Great North Run. The exhibition highlights the history of the Great North Run. Photographs and more document the history, which is complemented by the BUPA Great North Run Culture artist commissions.

Since 2005, BUPA has sponsored new artistic commissions celebrating the glory of the event, its people, and the geography of the region. This year, Sir Peter Blake responds to the commision by creating a limited run of 10 prints (to be sold through Opus Art) that honors the 30th anniversary of the race and its international pedigree.

The print, shown here in duplicate, brings a bit of humor to the human struggle inherent to the race as well.
