It’s Nice That points out the painting of Mr. Dane Lovett. He’s got a certain panache for finding subject in remnants of popular culture – specifically old recording platforms like Compacts Disks and VHS Tapes. His still life paintings, with a rather flat modeling of plant life, are perhaps the most successful. The work captures a slice of just-past adolescent early 30-something life that is both celebratory and sad.

That is how I am reading it anyway. Learn more, like the fact he’s Australian, at his Wikipedia page. View more paintings after the jump.
