Running from January 21 to March 5, 2011, Pool Gallery presents a solo exhibition of German photographer Harf Zimmermann curated by Marc Naroska.

For this exhibition, Zimmermann unveils a selection of his photographs made in collaboration with the Berlin  Museum of Natural History – a project centered around the museum‘s famous collection of butterflies, one of Europe‘s  largest and oldest butterfly collections, containing more than 4 Million specimens.

Offering a peek into the history and tradition of museuming butterflies, in addition to an examination of the butterflies  themselves, Zimmermann presents works that, though all shot on large format film, range in size and dimension.  Oversized renderings of the butterflies expose the delicate intricacies that are lost to the naked eye; tactful lighting  exposes features of the butterflies that ordinarily would be visible but for fleeting moments.
