One of six new exhibitions opening on January 25, 2011 at the Katzen Arts Center, The Dark and Humourous Mind of Heather Wilcoxon shows some real promise.

Heather Wilcoxon brings a San Francisco Bay area perspective to her seemingly whimsical but politically-charged paintings that express the humor, fear, absurdity and brutality of the human race. Always inspired by environmental issues, Wilcoxon’s newest series, Sludge Drawings, is a grouping of haunting images that document her response to the recent oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

The exhibition will run through March 13, 2011.
