More brand collaboration relating to “Art in the Streets” at MoCA. I like these… why? Because the intersection between street art and corporate America is integral to the story and it is not only fitting, but historically wise to have made these collaborations – with Nike, LEVI’s, and MTN happen.

After the recent success of the Levi’s Print Workshop in San Francisco and the Levi’s Photo Workshop in New York City, Levi’s is opening its third Levi’s Workshop this Sunday (4/17) in Los Angeles. The Levi’s Film Workshop will live at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (MOCA) within Art in the Streets, the first comprehensive U.S. museum survey of graffiti and street art.  The story of graffiti and street art, as well as other cultural forms that have emerged from the underground subculture, will come to life in the Levi’s Film Workshop through a series of collaborative film and video projects, robust educational programming and a city-wide screening series. As part of this project, Levi’s will partner with MOCA on a limited edition Trucker Jacket series, featuring original artwork by 10 exhibiting artists from Art in the Streets. The collection serves as a retrospective within the world of street art, as the jackets will be released in chronological order from when each artist began in the field. Each of the ten jackets is packaged in a special Levi’s x MOCA box. The collection will be available for purchase at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA (152 North Central Ave) and each jacket retails for $250. All proceeds from the sale of the jackets will benefit MOCA and its community programs. There are only 50 of each jacket being produced.

Since it was first introduced in 1967, the Levi’s Trucker Jacket has served as an iconic canvas for artists around the world, from the boogie-down Bronx to the favelas of Brazil. This Levi’s Trucker Jacket is part of a limited edition collaboration celebrating Levi’s partnership with MOCA and the Art in the Streets exhibition.
