Continuing our preview of Vision and Vernacular, today we offer a look at Quik. Quik began his career tagging the streets of New York City, but soon found broader application for graffiti, incorporating his vernacular style to more art historically based compositions. He’s been exhibiting at galleries and museums since the 1980s, and in that sense is one of the true pioneers of street art as fine art.

Vision and Vernacular runs June 1 to June 15, 2011 at the Venice Biennale.
