“October 2010, at the personal invitation of the mayor of Ville De Niort, France, O.Two and SheOne (TRANSCEND) were asked to make a mural to adorn the Cultural Arts Center. The arts center contains a theater, galleries and the public library. The director of the Library was so excited by the work in progress he commissioned the artists to paint the town library bus. The artists spent three days to make the mural and there was even a public opening on the night of it completion, the Mayor made a speech and wine and cheese was served. “that is the first time I have ever had an opening for a piece of wild style on this scale” said sheOne. The project was organized by curator Eric Surmont of Winterlong-Gallerie, who originally worked with rockGroup in 2002 when he organized them a joint installation exhibition with Os Gemeos during a town arts festival. Surmont also organized the rockGroup exhibition ‘Metal Lourd’ which opened in Niort a month prior the the wall being painted as a primer for the town to get to know the artists and create a dialogue about the upcoming mural.”
Much more after the jump.
