Eleven portraits make up Men Only, a solo showing of Philadelphia-born painter Alice Neel on view through July 29, 2011 at London’s Victoria Miro Gallery. Neel’s range as a portraitist is the thrust of the exhibition, her subjects shown displaying attitudes hinting at the ironic and the erotic, and most everything in between. In its concise nature, Men Only proves why Neel (born in 1900) is considered amongst the foremost portrait painters of her time.
