Jessica Hess’ first solo project at San Francisco’s White Walls is set for a September 3, 2011 opening. The locally-based artist – who grew up in the South before attending RISD – explores structure, simplicity and decay in large scale oil landscape paintings. Her focus on overlooked sections of civil infrastructure reveal environments where utility takes precedence over aesthetics. Her unique approach hinges on the juxtaposition of subject and medium, creating rich canvases that pay homage to urban architecture and street art.

It Finds You will run through September 24, 2011.
