Australian born, New York based artist, KID ZOOM (Ian Strange) recently returned to Australia to build an ambitious, full-scale replica of his childhood home inside Cockatoo Island’s prestigious Turbine Hall in Sydney.

A reflection on Strange’s upbringing as an isolated teen in the Australian suburbs, KID ZOOM: HOME is complemented by a film that sees Strange recklessly blowing up and then smashing, three iconic Australian cars – a further perpetuation of the plight of the apathetic, isolated youth in suburbia.

In the coming weeks, Kid Zoom will release a video documenting the six month creation of KID ZOOM: HOME. For now take a detailed look at the impressive installation, with a further look following after the jump.
