Where the runway meets the street

For Spring Summer 2012, Wooyoungmi brings us good measures of mustard and custard. Lots of other low key colors at play as well, along with a few well-placed pops of orange, red and aqua and a dose of interesting and understated patterns. The real force at play, however, is the warm breeze that breathes its way through the whole presentation, seemingly rustling loose fabrics about the frame. Some of the detailing around the zippers and collars of the shirts seems to whisper “wetsuit,” which is a little too literal for us. We think we even spot some pleats.

As a general rule, Woo Young Mi “creates a wardrobe for her modern man. He is confident with a delicateness garnished from her female perspective. She leads him to an appreciation of art and a cultural connection.” While we are not getting a mega dose of confidence, the looks are assured and the garnishments from a female perspective create a very idiosyncratic air. And for as much as these clothes appear to move, the lines remain clean and crisp in the expected Wooyoungmi fashion.
