Where the runway meets the street

The Spring/Summer 2012 Collection from Seoul, Korea’s Vandalist by Vandal doesn’t look seasonally appropriate by color, but, then again, true vandals wear black no matter what the sun is up to. These are clean looks overall, and each piece has a little bit of funk that sets it apart.

The pants, for instance, have a couple of pleat-like darts that give them a sleeker-looking fit. The black and grey T9 shirt wears its stripes pretty clearly and the lighter grey T4 shirt has a similar construction and is weathered to look decades old. The man behind the looks, Vandal (Heemin Yang), takes inspiration from creative destruction and is also an accomplished musician who creates and plays his own catwalk music. Sounds like a fun dude, and, despite the monochromatic palette here, these are some fun clothes. The collection is available at, no surprise, Blackbird.
