BOY by Prasanna Puwanarajah. The winner of British Airways  “Great Britons” competition, the film tells the story of a carpenter at the Olympic Velodrome track and his cyclist son. Starring Timothy Spall, this was part of BA’s search for outstanding Brits in three fields; Art, Film and Food, judged by Tracey Emin, Richard E. Grant and Heston Blumenthal. Not one to cheer you up in the run up to the Olympics, well worth a watch nonetheless. Directed by Justin Chadwick, a short with no dialogue, Judge Richard E Grant comments “the beauty about BOY is that millions of people from all over the world will understand it, because there are no barriers with silent films.”
