As we still sit firmly in Spring, or for some of us a season more like Winter-lite, it seems appropriate to shine a light on the sock, still keeping us warm around the ankle area while we await better days. Everybody has a drawer full of these things, many of which have seen better days, but sometimes you have to get fancy on your sock situation. Maybe you’ve bought some trousers just that half inch to short, perhaps you’re a roller or a cuffer, maybe you sit down a lot – a reclining leg exposer. Whatever way, if you’re socks are visible to the world make it count. These six are loud, proud and mean business, let your feet do the talking.
See the 6 socks on the following page.
Ayame make some of the sweetest socks out there. A cotton, nylon mix, they’re thin enough to fit under even your tightest pair of shoes. Patterns take their cue from 50’s prints with modern colourways keeping things fresh. A fine pair of socks in every sense.
The always cheerful Happy Socks, one of the more subdued options in this selection but still enough interest to draw eyes ankle-ward. This diamond pattern pair work well with muted reds against black a nice contrast. Something to put a smile on your face.
Solmates, the environmentally sound option, are a favourite around these here parts. Made from recycled cotton yarns, primarily from t-shirts, each pair is mismatched – each pair is awesome. Many colour options with this USA based company, all of them as good as the last.
A shorter option, these Snow Camo socks from P.A.M stop short of the ankle. A thicker, ribbed knit, cotton and nylon, this weird black and white mix is almost too good to wear. Love to see someone make these happen with a pair of sandals, might as well go all the way.
More mixed up melange colours, this time from Kapital. Cotton/linen with the grey middle a towelling material, these are as good as you’d expect from the Japanese label. If going out in just your socks was either practical or socially acceptable this would be the pair to do that in.
RL has been a leading light in the sock world for decades, we all own a pair, from sports tubes to dress socks, the man on the horse has it covered. This particular pair is a stand out combination of colours in a Madras check and comes in a two pack with a pastel purple pair. Delightful
