Arsenal present their new Nike kit for 2012/2013. Biggest change here is the ‘obsidian blue’ sleeve bands, giving the shirt a bit of a Union Jack feel, the addition is said to honour Herbert Chapman, manager in the 20’s and 30s. Known as one of football’s great innovators, he introduced the red and white kit as well as stripes on socks to help with visibility – he also championed floodlit pitches, numbered shirts and white footballs so respect to Mr Chapman.

The shirt is superlight at just 145 grams, uses recycled polyester and is significantly more breathable and durable than previous efforts. Take a look through the gallery featuring Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (in full Superman chest pop) and Kieran Gibbs – decide who’s wearing the shirt with the most conviction. The video below should give you an better idea of detail, Wenger’s acting at the end is pretty deep so keep watching. Available for pre-order at Arsenal Direct.
