A few years ago, prior to the release of the iPad, Modbook had the idea to take the screen from 13.3-inch MacBook Pros and make them into a fully functioning tablet by taking the screens and adding the whole touch screen element. Well, iPads came out, but the dream never died. It looks as if Modbook is still dead set on doing this as they have officially announced that they will be taking screens from current generation MBPs and creating tablets out of them.

From Slashgear:

All the specs are what you would find on the current 13-inch MacBook Pro: Intel’s Ivy Bridge Core i5processor clocked at 2.5Ghz, integrated HD 4000 GPU, up to 16GB of RAM, up to 1TB of hard drive space (plus a 960GB SSD option), SuperDrive, and WiFi b/g/n plus Bluetooth. The team has added is a Wacom digitizer to the 1280×800 display, with 512 levels of pressure sensitivity for the included stylus, with the screen also capable of registering 133 points per second.

No price for the Modbook Pro has been announced, but that is expected to be announced in the coming weeks. We have read that these will see a Fall release. We will be sure to let you know more as news comes along.
