Tune in and turn up

This week saw a number of great music video releases. As always we bring you a variety of genres, a bunch of different visual concepts and an exciting new comer also makes it on the list. Let us know your thoughts below in the comments section.

Tame Impala – Elephant (Filmed: Yoshi Sodeoka, Live Footage: The Silentlights)

The psychedelic lead single is matched perfectly with acid dripped visuals making this one a full body experience. I feel it’s only a matter of time before Quentin Tarantino uses this track for his next slasher movie.

Kilo Kish – Navy (Dir. Ben Rayner/Kish Robinson)

After the release of her first EP ‘Homeschool’ and her unforgettably sexy vocal on Childish Gambino’s ‘Make It Go Right’ Kilo’s been making serious waves. Enjoy this self-directed video debut filmed in her native New York.

Frank Ocean – Pyramids (Dir. Nabil)

Ahh, the classic strip club followed by scenic drive through the desert video right? Wrong. Everything gets tainted by that damn Novacane smudge again (see here). Further on we’re treated to a mystic, shaman-esque John Mayer emerging from the back of a neon pyramid. This sends Frank into a trance, although it’s not overtly clear whether this is caused by John’s guitar or centre-parting.

Stalley – Home To You Feat. Wale & Anthony Flammia (Dir. Shomi Patwary, Jack Cearnal & Thuan Tran)

A light painted delight set in the NYC night.

Diplo – About That Life Feat. Jahan Lennon (Dir. Lil Internet & Jack Cearnal)

It seems Diplo has unearthed an unreleased single from Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. With its kaleidoscopic free love revelry as well as the beautiful snap-clap percussion, jazz flutes and hedonistic harmonies (and a raga underbelly to boot) this loved up hippy ditty is our favourite video of the week.
