Where form meets function

Anish Kapoor, the Turner prize-winning artist, has made his very own tribute video for Psy‘s “Gangnam Style” in support of Chinese artist Ai Weiwei. The visual features both Kapoor and Weiwei, as well as members of the art world including Mark Wallinger and Bob & Roberta Smith. “Our film aims to make a serious point about freedom of speech and freedom of expression,” Kapoor stated when asked about the tribute. “It is our hope that this gesture of support for Ai Weiwei and all prisoners of conscience will be wide-ranging and will help to emphasize how important these freedoms are to us all.”

The video contains contributions from galleries around the world including MoMA, Guggenheim, Philadelphia Museum of Art and Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego.
