Hyper realist Australian photographer Dean West has teamed up with LEGO artist Nathan Sawaya on a series of photographs that explore contemporary identity. The work posits that identity today exists mostly as a cultural creation that has been heavily manipulated and commercialized.
The result is hyper-real photographs containing hidden LEGO sculptures within each image. The fun begins when trying to find Sawaya’s sculptures, which once revealed, emphasize how artificial and manipulated modern photographs can be.
