Where the runway meets the street

The great Karl Lagerfeld once said “Sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life so you bought some sweatpants.” As true as this might be, once in a while, preferably on the weekends, especially on a hungover Sunday, we kind of like the idea of letting life take care of itself and just slob around in a pair of comfy Jersey Cotton sweat pants and matching sweater. Yet sometimes it’s seems unavoidable to leave your own four walls, i.e. the fridge has to be filled or the doog needs to poop. Since the risk of running into Karl Lagerfeld is proportionally higher outside your appartment, you need to spice up that outfit of yours a bit. You don’t wanna look like you’re on your way to pick up your wellfare cheque and a bag of Doritos. Instead take a look at our suggestions and prove old Karl wrong.

Enswear – Sauvage 5-Panel Python Leather Cap Black

The problem with leather is, (this doesn’t include bad-ass leather jackets though, which is the epitome of manliness) as soon as you have decided on getting these leather pants, that leather cap or even leather skirt (I’m looking at you Kanye), it’s already out of style again. And since leather garb constantly oscilates between very very fashionable and appropriate for men to wear and downright weird – or as some people call it: gay – it is mostly reserved to individuals with a strong fashion sense – or as some people call them: gays. Anyway, don’t listen to me, get that sweet Python leather cap by Enswear at Soto, and wear it with pride. At least until it’s out of fashion again.

Acne – Cusack Bomber Jacket

The folks over at Acne did a great Job on reworking the classic bomberjacket, turning the already no-frills jacket into an even more minimalist piece. This lightweight jacket features a nylon shell and Viscose lining, a contrast zip closure, two zippered side pockets and a stand up collar. Get yours at Trés Bien.

Levi’s – Original Crew Sweat

Do I really need to tell you guys to get a plain grey crew neck sweater? It should allready be hanging in your closet. Since like forever. If not, i would suggest to pay OiPolloi a quick visit and get the one above by Levi’s.

Kris van Assche – White black tie Poplin Shirt

Turn that style-wise rather casual outfit up a notch with a smart dress shirt by Belgian Designer Kris Van Assche. He does a great Job over at Dior Homme (at least better than his predecessor now, who is busy ruining Yves Saint Laurent’s legacy) and an even better at his own label. Just take a look at this immacuate dress shirt. It features a clean slimt fit, shirttail hem with side gussets, single-button barrel cuffs with buttoned sleeve placket, tonal stitching and topped off with zipper at armscyes, that allow for removable sleeves. Get it at Ssense.

Gucci – Tapered Jersey Sweatpants

From zero to Guido, you might think now. Well, sweatpants are not what one would call the pinnacle of modern men’s fashion – even the ones above by Italy’s finest Gucci – yet they are super comfi and cozy. And isn’t that the reason why we chose them in the first place? Get these at Mr. Porter.

Anonymous Ism – Remix Three Quarter

A pair of great subtly patterned grey socks by Anonymous Ism. Made in the Land of the Rising Sun of a cotton/polyester blend.  Get them at Need Supply.

Carven – Penny Loafers

Keep it casual but still look sharp in these blazing orange Penny Loafer’s by french fashion house Carven. These are actually so laid back it’s almost impossible to wear them standing upright. But it’s still worth a try. You can pick up these beauties at Voo.
