Where form meets function

Gizmodo took an interesting look at the iconic Starship Enterprise from the Star Trek movie franchise and wanted to see how much it would cost today to actually build it. They tried to make it as realistic as possible with today’s technologies and knowledge available, as they can of course not predict the future and the costs of inventions that will happen in the future.

They came up with a grand total of costs of $478,947,711,160 USD, which makes up about 12.59 percent of the 2013 U.S. Defense expenditure’s total budget.

See how they came up with the number here.
