O’Dea Design‘s goal with this project was “to create a piece of modern art which doubles as a wireless induction charging pad.” As the first in a series of tabletop and freestanding wireless induction chargers, the Concrete Charger features a triangular concrete base with a soft cork top. The shape of this dual charger was designed to accommodate two devices simultaneously (one tablet and one phone) with two independent induction charging hearts. This version is based on the Qi standard as found in devices like the LG Nexus 4, Nokia Lumina 920 and Samsung Galaxy S4. Weighing in at 12 lbs, this may be the world’s heaviest wireless cellphone charger in the world. The Concrete Charger will be available in July but pricing has yet to be announced, find out more at odeadesign.com.
