The hip-hop genius has gained permission from New York City to perform atop the Ed Sullivan Theater marquee for the Late Show with David Letterman on July 8. Jay-Z needed approval because his performance would mean closing Broadway around the theater, which runs from West 53rd to 54th Streets, during rush hour.
