Where the runway meets the street

There were lots of bold prints and colors at the Michael Bastian Spring/Summer 2014 runway show presented last night at New York Fashion Week. The collection was inspired by classic French films like “The Red Balloon” and “The Dreamers,” bringing distinctly European dandyism to the collection in the form of straw boater hats, short shorts and slipper shoes. The highlights are all in the details: polished men with slicked back hair don bucket hats with pineapples, pink leopard print and toy key chains hanging on belt loops. Bastian combines these playful and boyish French elements with his distinctly American take on classical knitwear and suiting. Browse the gallery for the looks.
