Today Microsoft announced the new Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 tablets, along with a series of new accessories. The second version of the Microsoft-branded tablet computer is thinner, lighter and faster than its predecessor. The Surface 2 runs on Windows RT 8.1 on an Nvidia Tegra 4 processor, has a new 1080p ClearType display and USB 3.0, and will be available in black and silver. The 10.1-inch tablet comes with an improved kickstand, which now allows for two different positions. The kickstand was actually already our favorite feature in the first version of the Surface, so we are glad to see it back. The announcement of Touch Cover 2 is also great – the keyboard is now lighter, thinner and comes backlit. Both tablets will release on October 22. You can pre-order them now here.
