Where the runway meets the street

As you may have noticed, our denim coverage sticks to those manufacturers who keep their jeans clean and frill-free. Production techniques are, of course, important too: we love selvedge denim made in Japan on vintage looms, that are still hand-run. It’s clear that Sweden’s Denim Demon does as well. Their newest style, Ravve Japan, are hand-produced in Okayama — by the folks behind Momotaro — using American and Australian 13.5-oz heavy left-hand twill cotton, giving it a “hard” surface on the exterior while keeping the inside soft and comfortable. The usual accoutrements — hidden rivets, printed pockets, hidden selvedge lines — are found throughout including a pattern on the back pocket that some may consider a frill. We happen to find it subtle enough to not impact the overall look of the final product.  Shop this here when it becomes available next week.
