Gear Patrol get to grips with the soon to hit general release Sistem51 from Swatch. A celebration of over 30 years of fun-time watch making, the company create something a little more serious minded. This automated (self-winding) watch is comprised of 51 separate copper, nickel and zinc anti-magnetic parts centered around a single screw. To put that in perspective, many similar products contain over 600 pieces. Astonishingly, the Sistem51 is untouched by human hands during production, made entirely by robots from start to finish, the only mechanical movement whose assembly is 100% automated. All contained in a hermetically sealed case, it’s this airtight seal, and the use of magical lasers back on the factory floor, which helps to keep the watch regulated, free from dust and dirt and able to boast an impressive 90-hour power reserve. Currently only available at select Swiss stores, keep an eye on the website for more.
