Yohji Yamamoto joins adidas‘s Stan Smith Consortium project with the Stan Smith Y sneakers. The Japanese designer’s aesthetic is applied onto the classic body of the footwear, using a combination of canvas and leather. Hand-stitched lines of zig-zag embroidery on both sides of each shoe represent adidas’s three stripes, colored the same grey as the suede detailing. The threads are left to hang loose so it can fray overtime with wear, a detail that would only be recognized by those of us in the know. White smooth leather toe caps and soles finish off the sneaker which is embossed with graphic “Y’s” on the tongue. Get them for $180 when they become available soon.
