Google is officially getting into wearables, as many have expected for months already. The company has announced Android Wear today, a version of the operating system designed specifically for wearable devices. Also as expected, the operating system will first be living on watches, as seen in the above video that released today. Of course fitness will be one of the key features of the new wearables, as well as communication with your smartphone and according to Google they are already working with ASUS, HTC, LG, Motorola and Samsung on wearables. Just yesterday we showed you some first LG-made Android watches, that are apparently among the first products to release with the new operating system.

For now there are no specific news on the release date and on other devices that will come with the new Android Wear operating system, but we will of course keep you posted. It will be interesting to see what next move Apple will be making in the field.

Also be sure to watch the developer’s preview here below.
