Where the runway meets the street

Diehard Clothsurgeon fans among you may already be aware of head designer Rav Matharu’s brief career in professional football. If not, you are now. So it’s appropriate for the brand to release a capsule football-inspired collection to coincide with the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Titled “FC Garrincha,” the line uses the very same Brazilian legend Garrincha as muse for the collection, with the color palette reflecting his successes on the pitch and in real life.

A magnified image of the sand of Brazilian beaches makes up the allover prints for much of the collection, which feature on shorts and T-shirts. The trademark Clothsurgeon varsity jacket features in cashmere wool and lambskin leather, and elsewhere is an Irish linen two-piece, with subtle uses of slub cotton, ripstop nylon and cycling fabric completing the collection. The items are now available for purchase from the Clothsurgeon webstore.
