Tune in and turn up

This third installment of our ongoing Selectism Mix series is an all-rock ‘n’ roll affair courtesy of our good friend Alyasha Owerka-Moore, brand ambassador for PF Flyers and one of streetwear industry’s most respected figures.

Raised in Brooklyn, NY during the 1980s, Owerka-Moore was present during a time where worlds of skate, fashion and music, particularly hip-hop and punk, came together in a blend that would influence generations for decades to come. Inspired by his mother’s work in textiles for major art institutions, the design work of Shawn Stussy, Ralph Lauren, Paul Smith, and Issey Miyake, and the independent spirit of skateboarding, Owerka-Moore explored various creative outlets across skate and fashion.

Today, he is a brand ambassador for PF Flyers while simultaneously launching two new projects: Thee Teen-Aged, a skateboard and t-shirt brand for the 30 and over crowd and North Manual Vocational, a 1950s-inspired denim line.

While Owerka-Moore DJs purely for therapeutic purposes, his work as selector Stack-Aly has been called upon by The Fleshtones, Mos Def (Yasiin Bey), and Detroit pre-punk band, Death.

You can catch Stack-Aly at Brooklyn’s Afropunk Festival on August 22 and 23 or hear his monthly mixes on Soundcloud.
