Where form meets function

As video games developers work harder and harder to create something that feels like real life, on the opposite end of the spectrum it seems Jaguar Land Rover are trying to make real life feel more like a video game. The company’s latest breakthrough is an advanced heads up display, or “virtual windscreen,” that projects images onto the glass of your front window to create an augmented reality picture. The concept itself is nothing new (BMW have had something similar for five years or so now) but the capabilities of Jaguar’s new version take things further than ever seen before. Perfect race lines, virtual traffic cone arrangements, even ghost cars to test lap times – this really is like taking your favorite driving simulator onto a real life racetrack.
