Samsung has just unveiled its new addition to the Galaxy family, the Alpha smartphone. In line with the design direction that we have seen with the recent introduction of its “Level” premium audio accessories, we certainly like what we are seeing here as well and it is a nice step up from the inline S5 smartphone. Sporting a slim and light design, the Alpha comes equipped with a 4.7-inch HD Super AMOLED display, along with an advanced camera and real time HDR. Extra features include Ultra-Power Saving Mode, S Health, Finger Print Scanner, Private Mode, and connectivity with the latest Samsung Gear Fit, Gear Live and Gear 2 wearable devices. Dropping in a multitude of colorways including Charcoal Black, Dazzling White, Frosted Gold, Sleek Silver and Scuba Blue, the Galaxy Alpha launches in early September. Stay tuned for more details closer to its release.

The big question remains, whether it can compete with the upcoming iPhone 6, which is supposed to be introduced September 9? Only time will tell.
