The X2 Resort sits over The River Kwai in Western Thailand covering 3023 sqm, designed by Agaligo Studio. With views of the water and an incredible mountain backdrop, the hotel is located among rice paddies, sugar cane plantations and local temples. With a restaurant, outdoor deck, library, and the requisite infinity swimming pool, the design takes a more contemporary route, using a “light structure” which gives the build a feeling of floating above ground. Using locally sourced materials and recycling reclaimed parts, a series of corrugated metal cabins look rather severe from the outside whilst the interior is kitted out with all the fancy furnishings you could want.
