BROOKLYN: McNairy Pop Up At Urban Outfitters

McNairy heads to Brooklyn in pop-up shop form inside Urban Outfitter’s Space Ninety 8 multi-floor concept space. The shop-within-a-shop will feature Mark McNairy New Amsterdam’s current collection of tees, shoes and caps. McNairy’s space is open September 12 through November 3. Stop in and say hello.

NEW YORK: Symposium on Post War Japanese Art at Japan Society

PoNJA-GenKon began as a mailing list, in 2003, that brought together thinkers – scholars, curators and researchers — with an interest in  contemporary art. Now the group heads intot he physical world by holding symposium of Japanese Art in New York running September 12 and 13. This symposium will begin with a workshop on day 1 and lead into day 2 with scholarship panels and video art presentations focused on post Japanese art in modern Japan.

LONDON: Cereal Volume 7: The Reading Room

Cereal Magazine decided to do something different this year, partnering with Another Country and Phaidon to create a special reading room for the release of their latest issue and city guide. Cereal issue seven and GUIDED: London will be on display at a reading room inside Another Country’s Marylebone showroom during The London Design Festival. Go see the interactive installation from September 13 to 21.

PHILADELPHIA: Heineken Photo Exhibit

After stops in Barcelona, and on their way to NYC, Miami, Basel and Los Angeles, CROMO (2 photographers, 2 DJs.) is making a pit stop in Philadelphia. Suzette Lee and Bobby Flowers are display their photography as Rich Medina and Christian Martir will be spinning beats. September 15.

NEW YORK: The Standard & Friends Light Cave on the High Line

FriendsWithYou brings their latest creation, “Light Cave” to the entryway of The Standard Hotel Highlight. Hotel guests walk through the enormous 55ft x 24ft x 14ft sculpture as they enter The Standard giving them a sense of warmth. The sculpture remains on display through October 1.

SANO: Barney’s Outlet Store

Barney’s extends their stores in Japan to an even number six. The new store is located in Sano’s prestigious premium outlets and consists of both men’s and women’s clothing, shoes and accessories.

FINLAND: Helsinki Design Museum: Ilmari Tapiovaara

Helsinki Design Museum posthumously celebrates Finnish designer Ilmari Tapiovaara’s 100th birthday with an exhibition of his brilliant furniture. Tapiovaar is lauded for inspiring design not only in Finland but across the globe. The exhibition is in display through September 21.

LONDON: McQ Fall/Winter 2014 Manga Bunny Pop-Up at Selfridges

McQ took inspiration from himself to set up a manga bunny themed pop-up shop at Selfridges. Earlier this year, we were introduced to “Angry Bunny” in McQ’s SS14 collection and now McQ revives the bunny to be the star of his pop-up shop. The gigantic bunny stares at you as you walk into the space, but after you get your eyes to peer away you will see leather biker jackets hand-drawn McQ manga bunny illustrations by Yoshiyasu Tamura. Stop by and celebrate the new collection running through October 19.

HONG KONG: Hermes’ “Leather Forever” Traveling Exhibit

Hermès take us through a time capsule of their rich history in celebration of their 175th anniversary. Their traveling “Leather Forever” exhibit has settled in Hong Kong after stops in Shanghai, Rome, Madrid and London. Here, we are re-introduced to their influential Kelly Bag, then taken through a stroll of a race course movie set that features jockey saddles, boots, and horse feed pouches.

LOS ANGELES: Warby Parker Flagship

Warby Parker opens their latest flagship in LA this weekend. The new 1,020 sq/ft shop is the brand’s first free standing shop on the North American West Coast. The new Warby Parker shop opens Saturday, September 13.
